I See the Ocean from My Bed

I See the Ocean from My Bed
(2010)

I see the ocean from my bed
And everything seems to be at rest
The people walking on the streets
The fish swimming in the streams
Just as everything has ever been
The common sense of life
The highs and lows of the tide

I see the ocean from my bed
And everything is at its best
The ticking of the clock
Some memories of love
Trying to remain untold
The sound of her voice
My heart screaming to the void

I see the ocean from my bed
And everything has turned red
The alarms, the sirens and the rush
The painter cleaning his brush
As the cycle’s soon to reboot
The stories that no longer can be
The animals running free

I see the ocean from my bed
And everything is dread
The sea has made its way
Through the houses and the highways
The salt and the rage
The ground turning blue
Burning the last memories of you

I see the ocean from my bed
And everything is dead
Floating in the misted air
Lazy eyes begin to stare
This mess we’re in
You lying next to me
Hand in hand, we begin to breathe.
